【841Enews】Freshman Chorus First-round Competition Coming Up

by Keven Chen & Cherry Huang Have you noticed, when walking around campus, that you can hear some beautiful songs coming out of some classrooms. This year, the Freshman Chorus event is hosted by the MCU Student Council and Student Government Association. The first-round on Taipei campus will be in SunYatSen Auditorium, starting from 6pm on 12/5 (Wednesday), with 8 teams showing their best performance to the audience, while the Taoyuan campus first-round will take place on 12/15 (Saturday). As in years past, each group will be singing two songs. One is the school’s alma mater and the other is one they’ve picked themselves. The latter can be in any language and any style! The top three choirs will earn their ticket to Taoyuan on 12/21 (Friday) and join the final MCU championship. This year, Taipei campus IC will have 42 first-year students represent it! Very differently this time from last year, there are a few foreign students participating and representing the IC! They have been practicing very hard, just like those choirs from the other participating departments. Every week, many hours on many nights, they stay on campus and hide in a corner to practice. Katherine, the coordinator of this year’s choir for IC, said that they are all very passionate about this event and are all trying very hard to try to create a wonderful show for the audience.
