MCU School Anniversary Conferences Holding annual academic conferences is one of MCU’s traditions in celebration of the school anniversary. This year, the conferences are centered on the general topic of “Striving for Excellence in Higher Education”. Eighteen different academic units will be holding their conferences individually, during which a total of 761 research presentations, 15 speeches, 4 panel discussions and 2 workshops will occur. In addition, a total of 90 scholars overseas will be flying to Taiwan for this international education exchange. So, don’t miss out on this great opportunity to broaden your horizons! Studying Abroad Application Starts Now! (by IEE) MCU Study Abroad Program can fulfill your dream of studying abroad. Applications for the Fall 2012 semester are being accepted now, until 3/15. More information is available on the IEE website at http://iee.mcu.edu.tw/ and click the link “Overseas Study Abroad Programs”. Scholarships at Pai Chai University in Korea (by IEE) MCU’s sister school, Pai Chai University in Korea (http://www.pcu.ac.kr/english /), is providing a scholarship opportunity to MCU. The accepted applicant shall start study in Korea in September 2012. This 2012 KGSP Graduate Program scholarship includes: 1-year Korean language course plus 2 years Master’s or 3 years Doctoral 100% full tuition fee waiver, round-trip economy class flight ticket, a monthly allowance for living expenses of KRW900,000 (approx. US$820.00 per month), research allowance, settlement allowance, dissertation printing costs, medical insurance etc. The initial application period ends on 3/26 at noon. Cultural Field Trip to Yilan (by OISS) The Office of International Student Service (OISS) is planning a trip to Tooucheng Farm in Yilan on 4/14 (from Taoyuan Campus), and 4/21 (from Taipei Campus) for international students. Students may experience arts and culture of Taiwan, kiln-bake sweet potatoes, design their own stylish T-shirt, and taste authentic Taiwanese food. Please remember to bring your registration form, ARC or passport, and a deposit of NT$500 to sign up at the OISS office (in E201 on Taipei campus or on the 1st floor of Q Building on Taoyuan campus). The deposit will be returned – to those who actually participate – on the day of the event. First come, first served!
