Seismic Building Reinforcement The General Affairs Division is planning to temporarily relocate the administrative units in the central and north wings of A Building to D Building during the seismic building re-construction period starting from 5/19. The construction will last for 76 days and the administrative units are expected to move back to A Building around the end of August. University Anniversary Conferences This year’s university anniversary conferences kick off this weekend (3/9-3/10) with the Department of Applied English holding its 2012 International Applied English Education Conference in P102 on Taoyuan campus. There will be panel discussions, research presentations and workshops. If you are interested, don’t miss out on this great opportunity! MCU Sister School Seeks Chinese Student Teachers Silpakorn University, one of MCU’s sister schools, seeks two Chinese student teachers to teach Chinese classes in Thailand. Only graduating seniors and graduate school students are eligible to apply for this teaching program. The student teachers will be responsible to teach classes, and plan teaching and classroom activities independently. It is a four-month program, starting from June and ending at the end of September. Silpakorn University will provide free room and board and a monthly stipend of Thai Baht 10,000. The student teachers need to pay for their own travel and other personal living expenses. Interested students should submit the following application documents by 3/19 to the International Education and Exchange Division on Taoyuan campus: Chinese and English curriculum vitae, bilingual (Chinese and English) teaching plan (華語教案中英文), bilingual university course transcripts, score report or certificate from English proficiency exam, and current teaching log (not more than 10 pages). After the review of application documents, qualified applicants will be asked to do a teaching demonstration around the end of March or beginning of April. MCU Sports Competition The annual MCU Tug-of-War men’s game was held last Thursday (3/1) on Taoyuan campus and will continue throughout this week. The 9th Northern Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Competition will be held tomorrow (3/6). MCU will be competing against teams from six universities at the Taoyuan County Stadium. In addition, the annual track-and-field events will also take place this Friday (3/9) on Taoyuan campus.
