Students from the department of Applied Japanese did a great job in two national speech contests held recently. Liu Zhengying was awarded the championship in the annual Japanese Airlines speech contest with the topic, The Spirit of Traditional Market and Otaku, while Huang Shengwen captured the fourth place. Judges were very impressed with their performances. Also, senior student Lin Yuchao defeated 110 students from 28 schools to win the third prize in another speech contest organized by the Taiwan and Japan Research Institute. He was awarded a ticket to join next year’s interactive activity between Taiwan and Japan for the 100th birthday of ROC. These results were made possible through the hard work of the faculty in the department of Applied Japanese who trained the students wholeheartedly.
