【779】2010Mongolian Students Association in Taiwan

The 2010 Mongolian Students Association in Taiwan (MSAT) meeting was held at Ming Chuan University’s Taoyuan campus on November 26th. In order to enhance the relationship of Mongolian students in Taiwan, and enhance higher education interaction between the two countries, the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) and MCU cooperated to put on this wonderful event. MCU president, Dr. Lee hosted the opening ceremony at 10am. Honored guests included; Mr. Choidorj Head of Ulaanbaatar Trade and Economic Representative Office in Taipei, Dr. Lily H.M. Chen, CEO of FICHET and Mr. Otgonbat Barkhuu, president of Global Leadership University. Altogether, 130 Mongolian students from 17 universities and colleges participated in this activity which included exciting basketball games in the gym and interesting activities such as hitting tennis balls at numbered plates, 10-Persons/11-Feet Race and Backyard Wrestling. The activities allowed Mongolian students to relax and get to know each other, making MCU a great bridge among foreign students pursuing their education here in Taiwan. From October 28th to November 1st, the deputy director of International Education and Exchange, Dr. Nathan Liu, participated in an education fair in Mongolia and visited our sister schools. While in Mongolia, he was interviewed on two TV programs, including one on Mongol TV. He spoke about international education trends and higher education in Taiwan. The active interaction between Mongolian students and Ming Chuan University has grown noticeably, which shows success in international education. Otgontenger University, Mongolia National University and Global Leadership University are MCU’s Mongolian sister schools. There are currently 38 Mongolian students pursuing degrees and another three Mongolian exchange students at Ming Chuan.
