By Lisa Nguyen
The Career Center at Ming Chuan University organized an Internship Opportunities Seminar featuring guest speakers from ROOTS Taiwan—the local branch of the iconic Canadian casual clothing brand—and LAKAFFA International, the global company behind several well-known F&B brands.

A speaker from ROOTS Taiwan introduced students to the brand’s long-standing heritage. Founded in 1973, Roots is a Canadian clothing and lifestyle brand known for its handbags, small leather goods, footwear, sportswear, and home furnishings. The speaker shared the story behind the brand’s famous beaver logo and organized fun mini-games to actively engage students.
In addition, each participant received an adorable Roots tote bag as a souvenir, creating an exciting and memorable atmosphere throughout the session. The visit from ROOTS Taiwan was particularly meaningful for students seeking part-time job opportunities and wishing to learn more about the company’s employment system, as the branch is currently recruiting new interns and staff.

Meanwhile, LAKAFFA International brought a motivational perspective to the seminar. The representative shared his personal career journey, inspiring many students. He recounted how he began his career as a barista before progressing to his current position, emphasizing the importance of passion and continuous growth.
Reflecting on his own university days—filled with both dreams and uncertainty—he encouraged students to seize opportunities and remain confident in their potential. The speaker also introduced
LAKAFFA International’s network of subsidiary companies, especially Chatime, the global bubble tea chain where he previously worked.
He described his experience of taking and passing the managerial skills assessment, which later opened doors to career advancement. The representative concluded by presenting several brand locations that are currently recruiting interns and staff, offering students clear pathways to apply what they have learned.
By the end of the workshop, students expressed feeling more motivated and clearer about their future career directions. The event not only provided practical internship information but also offered valuable insights into personal development, professional growth, and real-world industry expectations.
