MCU SGDs Presentation Contest Now Accepting Entries

by Cherish Kyateesa Kyeyune

The MCU SDGs Creative Presentation Contest is now open to all students. The university’s English Language Center (ELC) organizes the event to help students improve their English communication skills in order to contribute to the “blueprint for developing Taiwan into a bilingual nation by 2030”. In addition to the great feat they hope to accomplish through this contest, ELC hopes that students will take the opportunity to examine their communities and consider how they can ensure sustainability.

Focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 17 objectives, the preliminary selection for the contest is made based on a 30-second short video in English. The video should present a brief introduction to the chosen SDG, the importance of the selected SDG, the relevance of this SDG to our community, and the applicant’s proposed solution to address a specific community issue related to the SDG. The applying student should complete the shooting of the video and fill out the online registration form before March 17, 2024: https://reurl.cc/aLDLQD

During the preliminary round, only 10 applicants from each group will be shortlisted to move on to the second round. Applicants will be notified of being shortlisted on April 1, 2024. Candidates will be announced both on the ELC website and via email. The in-person contest will be held on May 3, 2024 at 1:30-3:30pm in the E402 Large Conference Room on the Taipei campus.

The first prize was increased to NT$5,000 this year and all MCU students are welcome to submit entries. For further information regarding the rules and regulations of the contest, please refer to the online file.
