by Benson Lin Final exams, winter vacation, and Chinese New Year are coming up in the next two months. The final exam week will officially end on the 16th of January; students who have plans to travel abroad during the winter vacation, please remember to arrive back to Taiwan before the 25th of February. To celebrate the coming Chinese New Year, the Office of International Students Service (OISS) is holding a dinner party full of Chinese New Year festivities on January 16th (Fri) 6:00pm at Chientan Overseas Youth Activity Center in Taipei, offering free food, surprise gifts and, of course, lots of fun. Sign up now at the OISS office now till January 9th, and please remember to bring your ARC and 500NTD deposit with you. For more information, please visit the OISS office located on the 1st floor of the library building on Taoyuan campus or on the second floor of E building next to the Multi-purpose Theatre on Taipei campus. According to survey results in last year’s Ming Chuan Magazine, some international students who are not going home during the vacation choose to celebrate the Chinese New Year by joining a local student’s family; therefore, if you still have no idea what do to during the vacation, why not go and experience the most important Chinese festival by joining a local family and feel the true warmth and hospitality of Taiwan.
