【922Enews】Graduation ceremonies this weekend

by Sandra Chen 2014-15AY graduation ceremonies will be held separately on Taipei and Taoyuan campuses on 6/13 and 6/14. Altogether, 4605 students will be granted degrees, among them are 207 international students, 113 overseas Chinese students and 68 students from China. The latter are the first group of students who came across the strait to pursue their degrees in Taiwan In order to welcome more parents to join this big event, Taoyuan campus graduation ceremony on 6/13 (Saturday) will be held in two different sessions. The afternoon session is for students of School of Information Technology, School of Design and School of Management, while the evening session is for School of Education and Applied Languages, School of Tourism, School of Health Technology, School of Social Sciences and International College. Graduation Ceremony for students on Taipei campus including School of Management, School of Communications and School of Law will be held on the evening of 6/14 (Sunday). President Dr. Chuan Lee notes that with MCU’s 10 Pillar certification, MCU graduates are competent knowledge workers who are ready to enter the job market. He encourages all MCU graduates to fully develop and implement their execution ability and competitiveness to take advantage of the limitless online business opportunities in this era of big data. Special honors will be conferred during the ceremonies, including 5 Five-fold Education Excellence Awards to Ju, Chiao-Jou of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Department, Lin, Min-Ju of International Business Department, Chen, Pin-Chun of Radio and TV Department, Chung, Yi-Yun of Radio and TV Department and Huang, Zi-Shan of Advertising Department. Further, 223 excellent undergraduate student awards, 30 outstanding club leader awards, 32 excellent athlete awards, 143 perfect attendance awards, 16 excellent student volunteer awards and 123 excellence in undergraduate research awards will be presented. In the spotlight are the 10 Pillars certificates that will be conferred for the first time, a cutting-edge initiative among universities in Taiwan. Recipients of this certificate will find it useful as evidence of their competency while job hunting. Moreover, this year, instead of inviting guests from outside to give speeches, MCU has invited 3 of our distinguished alumni – Li-Yan Huang, Hui-Chin Tsai and Lin-Chuan Ting – to share their experiences in the job market.
