by Vickey Hsu This year, Ming Chuan University will be celebrating its 56th birthday on Saturday, 23rd of March at Taipei Campus. This year, there are five important events that are going to be held to celebrate the anniversary. The first event, academic symposia, will take place prior to the actual celebration day, on Friday, 15th of March. The symposia will be held at Taipei, Taoyuan and Jihe locations simultaneously throughout the whole day. On that day, hundreds of academic papers will be published to show the hard work of students who have been working unremittingly on their projects. The second event is the 56th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony. This will be held on the 23rd of March from 9am to 11am in Sun Yat Sen Auditorium on Taipei Campus. On that day, staff members who have worked full-time for 40, 30, 20 and 10 years will be recognized for their services at Ming Chuan; also outstanding staff members and teachers will be recognized in front of the whole university. From 9am to 3pm is the time when MCU students show off their creative cheerleading dance. These students are from 32 departments of Taipei, Taoyuan, and also from Kinmen locations, participating. They have been practicing and preparing with the help of their upperclassmen for the last two and half months. This part is the highlight of the school anniversary celebration every year. Every single student participating will show you their hard work and, as always, they will be dancing with their fullest energy and show our guests Ming Chuan people’s spirit. The cheerleading competition will be held on the school field in front of the dormitory; if the weather is not permitting, it will be held in Sun Yat Sen Auditorium. Also, at 11am that day, there will be an art display opening – “Endeared to Ming Chuan – Through the years by the brush of Dan-Fong Liang”, on exhibit in the Art Center of Sun Yat Sen Auditorium. This is the moment when art, beauty and magnificent works fill the campus very specially this year. It’s something you cannot miss. Last but not least is the Ming Chuan Alumni gathering, which will begin at 11:30am at the Music Hall. Fun and good old memories will welcome back the alumni of Ming Chuan University. The 56th Anniversary of Ming Chuan University is something that Ming Chuan people all look forward to. You must not miss any of the exciting events on the day! See you there!
