【838Enews】MCU Milestone of Internationalization in Michigan

by Carine Yang translated by Carol Song The grand opening of American Ming Chuan University in Michigan was held on October 22, 2012, an unprecedented event in the history of both Ming Chuan (MCU) and Saginaw Valley State (SVSU) universities. President Chuan Lee and Dr. Robert Yien, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, co-hosted the ceremony attended by Dr. Eric Gilbertson, President of SVSU, and numbers of honorable guests. They joined MCU representatives to celebrate the launching of this MCU and SVSU joint-venture in higher education. The cross-cultural gala was held at Room# EN 148 in the Regional Education Building of SVSU. Headed by President Lee, the MCU delegation included Dr. Pei-di Shen, Director of Teacher Education Center, Dr. Max Liu, Executive Director of International Education and Exchange, and Jeanne Lee, Special Assistant to the President. During the visit, they also met with President Gilbertson to discuss the joint graduate programs in the fields of Teaching Chinese as Second Language and International Business Management, set to begin in June 2013. The other key task of the delegation was to visit a potential site for a future AMCU campus adjacent to the established SVSU campus. The vision is for AMCU to establish its own campus in Michigan by 2014. That achievement will secure another trophy in the competition of international education for both universities in both North America and the Asia Pacific region.
