Don’t hesitate anymore, the MCU Literary and Arts Awards Competition is waiting for you to express your great talents. The event is organized by the Journalism Section of the General Secretary’s Division and entries will be accepted beginning in mid-October. As in years past, the contest is divided into nine categories. These include novel, prose (which has Chinese and English sections) and essay on an appointed theme. Moreover there is poetry (which is divided into contemporary poetry, classic poetry and English poetry) and photography, will is separated into campus culture and creative untitled sections). International students are strongly encouraged and welcomed to participate in the English prose and poetry categories. The first prize in each category will from NTD 5,000 up to NTD 6,000. Last year, there were also many international students who won awards in the photography category. The theme for the campus culture photography this year is ‘MING CHUAN PEOPLE’, which can include any kind of photo taken on MCU campus. The creative untitled category could comprise any great photo that you want to share with us, but it can’t be edited and it needs to be printed out as 5×7 size. One excellent alumus, Pare Joagni earned the first prize in English poetry and prose categories; he even managed to be selected in Chinese prose last year. He is currently studying for a master’s degree at Taiwan TECH, and he said the experience of participating in the literary awards competition is a wonderful and honored memory from his college days. He also mentioned that it would be easy to grab the judges’ attention if you tell the story in an orderly fashion.
