Assistant professor in MCU’s International College (IC), Dr. Timothy McBush Hiele, and a MCU IMBA alumnus, Brandon Parker Davis, were recognized by the New Taipei City Government for their significant contributions to bilingual resource-sharing and collaborative development.
New Taipei City Government has established technical and vocational cross-discipline alliances in collaboration with 44 colleges and universities to assist in collaborative development of curriculum, faculty, equipment, industry-university cooperation and resource-sharing. Dr. Hiele, currently on the faculty of the Applied Computing and Information Management Program in IC, and Mr. Davis were recognized for their outstanding contributions in the New Taipei City Government’s “Bilingual Collaborative Teaching Program.” At the October 16 press conference, Hiele and Davis received awards from New Taipei City Government Mayor Hou You-yi.
In April-May of 2020, Dr. Hiele went to Yingge Vocational High School to teach computer science, economics and digital technology application using English for instruction. Davis also participated in the bilingual collaborative teaching program. He originally came to MCU in 2016 from the U.S. to study in the IMBA program, from which he earned his Master’s degree in the short time of one and a half years.
MCU Vice President Dr. Lynne Lee, who also attended the 10/16 press conference, said that Ming Chuan is proud of the foreign teacher and alumnus who stood together on the stage to receive recognition awards for their participation in the New Taipei City Government’s “Bilingual Collaborative Teaching Program.” Their fine achievement also demonstrates Ming Chuan’s achievements in internationalization and contributions to social responsibility through English as a medium of instruction.
