【947Enews】April 10-13 MSCHE Re-Accreditation Evaluation Team Visit

MCU was first accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) in 2010, making it the first U.S.-accredited University in Asia. According to the standard process of institutional accreditation in the U.S., re-accreditation is necessary after the first five-year period. During these years, the university has continued to promote university affairs, and especially persisted in cultivating assessment culture and refining its assessment model. Since early 2014, the Overseas Accreditation Steering Committee, with its four Working Groups, have invested intensive efforts into preparation for re-accreditation. Town Hall meetings were held in May-June 2015 for faculty, staff and students on Taipei campus (teleconferencing with Kinmen location) and Taoyuan campus. Following, an off-campus Self-Study Retreat was held in June 2015 to promote coordination in collecting data and drafting recommendations. All members of the Overseas Accreditation Steering Committee and designated administrators of academic and administrative units met together to collaborate on preparation for re-accreditation. MSCHE is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement through accreditation via peer evaluation. To ensure the continuous growth and improvement of its member institutions, MSCHE grants different accreditation duration to its members, ranging from one to five years. All institutions are requested to be evaluated for re-accreditation in different cycles to ensure their education quality.
