【919Enews】MSCHE Re-Accreditation Town Hall Meetings on the Way

by Sandra Chen MCU was accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) in 2010 and became the first American-accredited University in Asia. For the recent 5 years, the university has continued to promote university affairs and is currently putting in intensive efforts into preparation for re-accreditation. Two Town Hall meetings are scheduled to be held at H101 on Taipei campus (teleconferencing with Kinmen location) on 5/28 (Thursday) and at FFB101 on Taoyuan campus on 6/2 (Tuesday), respectively. The meetings will be convened by Dr. Robert Yien, the Vice President for International Affairs. A brief introduction to MSCHE and the meaning for seeking US accreditation will be explained in the meeting; four working groups will also give reports of their findings. Faculty, staff and student representatives are welcome to attend the meeting. Moreover, Research and Development Division has organized an off-campus Self-Study Retreat at the Beitou Resort Conference Center on 6/4. All members of the re-accreditation team and designated administrators of Academic and Administrative units are to attend the retreat and collaborate to prepare for re-accreditation. MSCHE is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement through accreditation via peer evaluation. To ensure the continuous growth and improvement of its member institutions, MSCHE grants different accreditation duration to its members, ranging from one to five years. All institutions are requested to be evaluated for re-accreditation in different cycles to ensure their education quality.
