by Vickey Hsu Mid-term examinations are coming next week, from Monday, November 10 to Friday, the 14th. During the exams, students must obey the regulations. Breaching any of the rules will result in receiving serious penalty from the university. Before the exam week, students must go to the MCU website and check their exam schedules through the Student Information Network. It is recommended to print or note one’s individual exam schedule. Please be aware of the examination time, course number, subject, and the exact classroom in which you will be seating your exam. Students must bring their student ID with them on the exam day. Or, a temporary student identification card may be applied for at the Exam Center on campus. The temporary ID must be applied for before the beginning of the exam session. Students must make sure they are in the right exam room and sitting at the assigned seat. Please do not enter the exam room 15 minutes after the beginning bell rings. And do not leave the exam room until at least 20 minutes after the bell rings. Violators will receive a “0” for the exam grade. If a student realizes that he or she is in the wrong exam room after receiving the exam paper, please do not leave the exam room. Please wait patiently for a proctor to escort you to the right exam room. And, when receiving the exam paper, please check if it is the right one for your class section, course, and teacher. If not, the student should raise a hand and the proctor will assist you. Cheating during exams is strictly prohibited. No papers should be in the student’s pocket or on top of and below the desk; also if there are words written on the desk, please erase them or report the situation to the proctor. During English/Japanese Listening Exams, students should not take notes on their desktops. Students violating this rule will be penalized according to the University Regulations. Telecommunication equipment should not be used during the entire exam session; students must turn off their cell phones. Electronic equipment with memory function, including smart phones, are not allowed in the exam room. If a student violates this rule, he or she will be penalized with Demerit, Observation, or 2nd Level Expulsion. Students who encounter serious incidents during the exam week that prevent them from taking the exam must write a special report to request a special incident leave. Without an approval of such special report, the entire semester grade will be deducted. Please be aware that there will be no make-ups for the midterm exams. Be on time or arrive at the examination rooms in advance so that you can be more prepared. To all students: Good luck on your mid-term exams! Wish you all get good grades on your exams.
