by Sue Lin Tan Six categories attracted nearly 10 thousand people to join the Big 7 Run intercollegiate marathon at New Taipei City Shui Yang Park from the seven co-hosting schools. The public delighted in the event, including the participation of President Chuan Lee and others university president in this meaningful marathon. In the student categories, both men’s and women’s events were won by MCU students: Francisco Javier Leon Aguilar in 21 minutes 26 seconds and Jia-Ming Moh in 27 minutes 54 seconds. President Lee expressed that this was a good opportunity for sport, not only can distance running train a person’s willpower, more importantly, it can develop a spirit of sportsmanship, persistence and resolution. He hopes that in the future there will be more marathon events for students and the public. In the faculty and alumni categories, Mr. Han-Fu Jian, of the MCU General Affairs Division took first place among the men and MCU alumnae, Ms. Juan Lin, arrived at the finish line at 13 minutes 24 seconds. One International College student, Shirley, who was participated this event, said it’s her first time ever to join such an event and to try out the different experience of jogging with thousands of students in this beautiful park. Another student, Jun-Ru Lai, thought that it’s a wonderful chance to represent MCU wearing a nice blue shirt to complete this marathon. This was a wonderful event to gather all the sports lovers together, and MCU performed well in this marathon. It definitely advocated sports culture and built up the relationships between the schools.
