【869Enews】International Students in MCU Public Service Corps draw attention on the National Day Celebration

28 MCU students were selected to help with guest reception on the stage for the National Day celebration event. This year, for the first time, two international students are members of the Corps; they are Alla Teryaeva from Russia and Chai, Qian-Wen from Malaysia. These lovely ladies wear red modernized Qi Pao with blue trim (also known as mandarin gown) and serve the guests with lovely smiles and elegant posture. MCU Corps has been serving in the big event for 29 consecutive years. Secretary General Dr. Fan, Chung-Yuan notes, as the university is pursing internationalization, many international students have also applied to join the Corps. Aside from the two students mentioned above, another student of Chinese-Japanese ancestry is assigned to assist guests from Japan. Golden haired with blue eyes, outgoing Alla Teryaeva is a 2nd-year student of International Business and Trade Program in International College. Alla Teryaeva’s mother tongue is Russian, but she can also speak fluent Mandarin as she has been studying in Taiwan for 3 years. She is really excited to have been selected as a member of the Public Service Corps. Chai, Qian-Wen is a 3rd-year student of Advertising Department. She can also speak fluent Mandarin since she started to learn Mandarin from childhood in Malaysia. In order to have good performance, she practiced poise and etiquette in her spare time; she practiced even up to eight hours a day during holidays. Public Service Corps is still recruiting new blood; students who are willing to serve, have a sense of responsibility and meet the height requirement – male students from 180-190 cm and female students from 163-172 cm – are welcome to participate in the selection every September. Interested students who are willing to take serious training, please pay attention to the selection announcements. Maybe you will be in the spotlight on the next National Day.
