【858Enews】Elite Athlete Stories-Tough times don’t last but tough people do

by Benjamin Annius I am extremely honored to be selected by the Taiwan Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the 2013 Foreign Student Sportsman of the Year. I am earnestly grateful for the International Recognition I have received. Representing Ming Chuan University at Taiwan’s National Inter-collegiate Karate Games was a great honor since only one individual can be chosen per university to participate in each event. Being able to compete and win against Taiwan’s elite competitors and constantly rise to the top of that league was indeed a dream come true. Although I have faced several challenges on my way, each one has only strengthened and made me the person I am today, someone who sets his eyes on a goal and keeps focus until that goal is achieved. I believe that one must not only have the will to do something, but must also put everything that he or she has into it. It is then, and only then, they can achieve their goal. Defeat or failure cannot be an option. The saying “Tough times don’t last but tough people do” is a testament of my success. These awards and accomplishments I have earned would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my seniors and my colleagues
